Who We Are

Founded in 2019, Exclusive Caring Partners (ECP) is an organization located in Gastonia and Kings Mountain, NC, providing residential and community based services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

After working in Human Services field and serving individuals with disabilities for over 19 years, Owner/Executive Director, Walter Young, decided it was time to start his own organization to bring his own passion, vision, and innovation providing care for individuals with disabilities.  Walter gained his experience in this field working 11 years for a company in New York City, and continued working for 2 organizations in Human Services after moving to Charlotte, NC for an additional 8 years.  

His motivation for finally starting Exclusive Caring Partners came after a guardian for one of the individuals he worked with in Charlotte, Ms. Becky, gave him the idea that he should start his own organization servicing individuals with special needs.  It was Walter's caring and passionate attitude towards each individual in the group home he managed that Ms. Becky knew he would succeed in starting his own organization.  In one of his last conversations with this beautiful soul, Ms. Becky said to him, "Walter, there is no limit or cap that you have when serving these individuals with special needs.  I think you would be awesome at starting your own organization".  Sadly, two weeks after this conversation, Ms. Becky had passed away.

After this, Walter decided that it was time to follow the idea and dream Ms. Becky had envisioned for him.  In 2019, Walter finally put forth the work and effort to apply for his license to be an Alternative Family Living (AFL) Provider in North Carolina.  In February 2020, the application was approved, and ECP became a licensed AFL facility.  His dream of having his own business and organization came true, and he will now be able to continue his life-long passion in serving others.  ECP's team members all share Walter's caring attitude and dedication, and are passionate in serving our residents and their families.

Currently, ECP has one community-based residential treatment facility in Gastonia, that serve individuals with disabilities and special needs, with licensure pending for the second location.
